The first recorded celebrity to settle in the idyllic town of Anaheim was Helena Modjeska. Helena was a celebrated actress of the late nineteenth century, famous for essaying complex roles in Shakespearean plays.

Renowned for her acting in Poland, Helena also performed extensively in Europe and the United States of America. It was during one of her performing visits to California when she stumbled upon the beauty of Anaheim hills and decided to settle here with her husband, Gustav Modrzejewski.
