The earliest settlers of Anaheim
The initial settlements comprised wine farmers and people of mostly German origin. The population started growing with varieties in business as groups of other origins started coming in. Around the 1860's Daniel Kraemer, the first English speaking settler, whose son married the Angelina Yorba. The areas of Yorba and greater Yorba belonged to Kraemer's wife, and became assets of the Kraemer family's descendents.
30 miles south of Anaheim was a settlement called the Mission San Juan Capistrano which was founded much earlier (1776). The Sierra Chapel, a historic establishment and the scenic surroundings make this region a great place to visit.
