In 1997, this stadium was given the new name of Edison International Field of Anaheim. On 29th December, 2003, it was announced by the Angels that the stadium would be rechristened as Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The stadium's total cost of renovation was estimated to be $100 million.
Following the 1965 season, the Angels moved from Los Angeles, and the Anaheim Stadium became their home. On 9th April, 1966, as the San Francisco Giants were hosted by the California Angels in an exhibition game, the stadium was opened. The first American League Game held on this stadium was on 19th April, 1966.
The original stadium had a seating capacity of 43,204. From 1979-80, it underwent construction for additional seating. In 1998 after the construction was completed the stadium had a seating capacity of 65,158 for baseball. Now the seating capacity of the new Angel Stadium of Anaheim is around 45,050.
